Introduction in English

Hi, and welcome to my site! This page serves a brief introduction of myself. If you want to contact me, feel free to send an email to pasi@pasi.fi. :)

I’m 30 years old IT professional (Project Manager, B.Sc. [Econ.]). I currently live in Chengdu, China, with my lovely wife and our two beautiful children, boys born in Aug 2006 and Nov 2009.

Voluntaryist

  • A state government represent ultimately pure violence. Forcing people to behave in certain ways is a preferred solution to complex social problems (or other things that are problems merely to the feelings of some people). However, using force can never achieve the expected outcome, as it always results in more or less additional use of force in response. I am opposed to initiation of force in all of its forms.
  • While the state power usually depends only on the threat of violence, it’s actual physical violence that it ultimately depends on. If someone rejects and disobeys the “common” rules, he or she will be fined or jailed. If he/she doesn’t pay the fines, he/she will be put in prison. If he/she refuses the inprisonment and/or escapes it, he/she will be physically forced there. If he/she continues to resist the force, defend him/herself or keeps running, the force used against him/her will grow, until he/she is either in prison or dead.
  • Voluntaryism as a political and economic ideology stands for voluntary interaction and rejects the initiation of force.

Political Blogger

  • My main online activity is to quite regularly write a blog about politics, libertarianism, anarchism and so on. The blog is hosted at Uusi Suomi, which is the largest web-only newspaper in Finland, although the blog posts are automatically copied to the blog on this site as well. Unfortunately most of my blogging is in Finnish, but you can find the posts in English conveniently categorized here. In 2009 I had over 15,000 unique visitors in the blog and this year that same number was reached by end of June.

Climate Skeptic

  • I’m the founder and a former chairman of Finnish climate skeptic society called Ilmastofoorumi (Climate Forum, est. 2007). We currently have more than 120 members. Mostly I’m concerned about the negative effects of climate policies on the welfare of both humans and the environments. The costs (in terms of money, living standards and harm to environment) of current and proposed climate policies are high but little can be expected to be gained.
